May these memories,

Fill you with joy, not sadness,

For they are not lost,

Just tucked away for a time,

To be remembered again.

A year of new things:

Today, I razored my head,

Cancer wanted it,

I said, “take it!” on my terms,

Battle lost but not the war!

Here on the West shores,

Where Pacific Ocean meets,

A Bay side City,

We shelter in place waiting,

Wishing walks in empty streets.

“I had a good day!”

Dare I tempt Lady Luck’s gaze?

And promote today,

From mere ‘goodness’ into something-

More grand? Perhaps even great?

A new injection,

Each day keeps me from sickness.

Small bandages are forming,

Constellations along the-

Equator of my body.

Friendship looks like bread,

Specifically banana,

Baked to perfection,

Hand delivered by beauties,

Grinning ear to ear with joy.

Thursday was harder.

Like a freight train, it hit me-

This was expected.

And I got through it okay,

Tomorrow will be better

Day two I waited,

Listened to the alleys’ song,

And observed the sun,

Four walls, a ceiling, and floor,

Yearning for that open door.
