The wheel of the year,
Turns once again tomorrow,
But my eyes close not,
This restless mind races with,
Tomorrow’s celebrations.

“One more wink!” I say,
In between a yawn or two,
“That is all I need…”
A familiar bargain,
But the sunrise can’t be bought.
Silk sleeves sewn just so,
Digital banners “blowing,”
Jinmaku dreaming.
Each step brings new challenges,
Bringing me small victories.
Crisp unread paper
Bound in a leather cover
Each new page reveals
Black inked words floating above
A white canvas for dreamers.
It is near the end
And it always saddens me
Where does the time go?
Like The Seasons, poems are
An ephemeral language.
Unlike the season,
I am late to this old game,
But I come prepared.
Writer’s Block beware my pen!
I will be victorious!
The pen has dried up.
No more ink flows to the page.
Does this mean the end?
Will it not get up and dance?
No, I just need ink refills.
Reflection
I am truly blessed,
This long awaited weekend,
Away from fast paced,
Has been the perfect recharge,
Let’s hope the battery stays.
Eyes dry and bloodshot
Back breaking under the strain
Parched lips and dry skin
Cold nights with colder to come
And we turn our backs in fear?
Happy Thanksgiving!
To my family and friends:
May your day be bright,
Your stomachs full of food, but~
Remember: eat dessert first!
